The RN to BSN Program at California State University, Bakersfield offers new windows of opportunity for professional growth. Health care is rapidly expanding and evolving daily. Advancements in in-patient care and the accompanying technology has made the need for quality, highly educated nurses greater than ever. The Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree is increasingly recognized as the degree that properly prepares nurses for the current healthcare environment. The BSN program gives nurses the needed skills in critical thinking, leadership, case management, and health promotion. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to apply for a Public Health Nurse (PHN) certificate that permits work in either public health or school nursing and various community-based organizations.
The Department of Nursing at CSUB work closely with our faculty, nursing leaders, ADN programs, and community members to craft a solid and current curriculum for the RN to BSN student. I have used every bit of knowledge and theory the program provided and have been amazed that I was prepared to step into situations with a foundation that allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the team. My hope is you will find this journey to be exciting and will look for opportunities to apply your new-found knowledge.
