The School of Arts and Humanities plays a large role in supporting the university’s General Education program. In fact, many students discover their passion for the Arts and Humanities through General Education courses and develop a major or minor in one of our departments.
The Art, Music, and Theatre programs in A&H regularly offer concerts, exhibitions, and performances for the university and the community. We encourage students to be involved in these activities. The academic programs in A&H also offer an array of student organizations that provide possibilities for deeper involvement and leadership. These are excellent opportunities for students to build a set of skills and experiences that can help prepare students for their professional lives.
STUDY ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
The study of English language and literature improves our ability to think, read, write, and speak on a highly sophisticated level. Mastery of these critical skills is crucial to success in any career. The CSU Bakersfield English Department is committed to making the entire university community more articulate, better educated, and more productive citizens of the world we inhabit.
