As a student in our bachelor’s degree program, you’ll earn credit for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) courses. Our students have been ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for the number of students earning the University Associate – Certified Risk Manager (UACRM) designation. Our students also pursue opportunities in life and health insurance, employee benefits, and financial planning.
You’ll attend industry-related events each year, such as the Chicagoland Risk Forum (formerly REBEX), Surplus Lines Forum, Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana Convention, and RIMS Annual Conference.

Program Requirements
As a risk management and insurance major, you’ll pursue a course of study which includes:
- Ball State’s Core Curriculum
- 14 undergraduate business foundation courses
- specialized risk management and insurance course work (including a 15-credit risk management and insurance core)
- three credits of insurance, risk management, and business electives
- a broad array of general electives
