Understanding the big questions in life and how to apply them to the real world that’s what you can expect from a degree in philosophy from Ball State. If you constantly ask the question “Why?” and seek wisdom and truth, this program is an ideal fit for you.
You’ll graduate understanding the major issues of life including right and wrong, justice, freedom, beauty, knowledge, and truth and you’ll be well prepared for a variety of career fields.
What You Will Learn
Courses include topics on current and historical foundations of philosophy. You will engage in academic study on such subjects as logic, ethics, philosophy and religion, and contemporary and historical theories on philosophy. Additional topics include:
- techniques of critical reasoning

Major Requirements
In addition to the University Core Curriculum and lineup of electives, you’ll take 33 credits of philosophy-specific coursework. You can select from a wide range of courses to best fit your interests.
