To stay relevant in a global economy, modern businesses need sharp leaders who keenly understand business technology. As a major in computer technology at Ball State, you’ll become one of those leaders. Our program of study helps you build a strong foundation in the concepts, theories, and practices of information technology, including the design, implementation, and administration of secured systems and networks.
To master business technology, you’ll need to go beyond classroom learning. That’s why our course of study includes an internship providing real-world experience in today’s computer environments.

Careers in Computer Technology
Graduates of the program are well-prepared for technical and supervisory positions in information technology. They may work as:
- computer support specialists
- system/network administrator
- system/network engineer
- IT project manager
- director of technology
- IT consultant
Graduates may also provide software, hardware, and networking support and identify, research, and resolve hardware and associated software problems.
Several students also choose to enter graduate school directly after graduation. This is an alternative appropriate for students who intend to pursue careers in information technology administration.
