The Master of Education may be completed with 30 semester hours of coursework and a thesis. A non-thesis program requires 36 semester hours of approved graduate coursework.
The program is designed primarily for individuals who plan a career as a classroom teacher or reading specialist (reading specialist is all-level) in an elementary or middle school.
Standard Graduate Elementary Program
The standard graduate elementary program is a 36-hour plan with three options.
Option 3 - Elementary with 4-8 Initial Certification
This option is designed for individuals with a degree who are seeking initial teaching certification to teach in the middle grades, fourth through eighth grade. Candidates may certify as Core Subjects 4-8, English Language Arts/Reading 4-8, Mathematics 4-8, Science 4-8 or Social Students 4-8.
