Further your knowledge and expertise of chemistry and biochemistry with a Master of Science in natural sciences with an emphasis in chemistry. The degree belongs to the College of Sciences and Mathematics as a whole, but you’ll focus primarily on chemistry courses.
This specialized training will give the credentials often needed to teach high school or community college chemistry. The master’s degree also prepares you to conduct research in industrial and commercial settings or continue with doctoral studies in chemistry or biochemistry.
Students with a Master of Science in Natural Science with an emphasis in chemistry can pursue careers in teaching, industry or commercial settings. Choosing the thesis option ensures preparedness for continued studies in a doctoral program.
The thesis option requires a minimum of 30 graduate semester hours:
24 graduate semester hours of chemistry, which includes 6 hours in CHE 589 and CHE 590 for writing and defense of a thesis 6 graduate elective hours from other departments in the university

Generally, all applicants must have an overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and a 2.8 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. English Language Scores: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score - 79 IBT (Internet-Based) and 550 PBT (Paper-Based); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score - Overall band 6.5; Pearson Test of English (PTE) score – 53.
