Studies and training in geology are designed (1) to give students an understanding of the methods of science and the fundamentals of earth science as they relate to the physical environment and our dependence on earth resources such as minerals, rocks, fuels, and water; (2) to give prospective science students the fundamentals of geology as a foundation for other science studies; (3) to provide training in geology and related earth sciences as an area of specialization for prospective elementary and secondary school teachers; and (4) to provide geology majors with a broad foundation in geology for future professional work or graduate study.
The geology M.S. with thesis requires completion of 30 semester hours of graduate geology, which could include up to six hours of approved courses in other science disciplines, including 24 semester hours of coursework and six hours of thesis research and writing (GOL 589 and GOL 590). The geology M.S. non-thesis requires completion of 36 semester hours of graduate geology, which could include up to six hours of approved courses in other science disciplines.

為來自中國的學生設計 To apply for a master’s degree program at SFA, you must meet one of the following requirements: Be in your final year of undergraduate work; Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Generally, all applicants must have an overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and a 2.8 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. English Language Scores: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score - 79 IBT (Internet-Based) and 550 PBT (Paper-Based); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score - Overall band 6.5; Pearson Test of English (PTE) score – 53.
