If the thought of becoming an engineer excites you, but to the point you just can’t pick a focus, pre-engineering is the program for you. This two-year program will help you decide which type of engineering suits you best.
Pre-engineering lays the groundwork for your engineering background and gives you the sciences and math background you need to be an engineer. From there, students can choose to transfer to another school to focus their education on a wide range of engineering disciplines, including:
Mechanical Electrical Civil Petroleum Chemical
The pre-engineering program is designed to help you find your passion in the world of engineering. Students have a chance to explore the various engineering disciplines and choose an area to focus on after two years.
Students who wish to enter the pre-engineering program need to be aware of the following:
Students must ensure that their schedule lines up with the requirements for the engineering discipline they wish to pursue. Students interested in mechanical engineering need the following courses: EGR 250, EGR 321 and EGR 215. Students who plan to study electrical engineering must take the following courses: EGR 215 and EGR 343. If you plan to pursue petrochemical engineering, you must take the following courses: EGR 250, EGR 321 and GOL 131.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 International Freshman must have at least a 2.500 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) on all secondary coursework. English Language Scores: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score - 79 IBT (Internet-Based) and 550 PBT (Paper-Based); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score - Overall band 6.5; Pearson Test of English (PTE) score – 53.
