The Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording Technology (SRT) provides students with the fundamental skills and theoretical knowledge needed to begin successful careers or pursue graduate education in the music and recording arts field. The goal of the program is to produce versatile professionals with a confident command of both music and technology. In support of this vision, the SRT curriculum is a balance of advanced practicums in music and recording arts technology.
Students enrolled in the SRT program will not only gain knowledge through lecture-based classes, but by experiential training through small group and solo projects and studio lab time as well. SRT courses include Live Audio Engineering, Audio and Music Production, Microphone Techniques, Multimedia Sound Techniques, and Commercial Recording, among others. Additionally, SRT students enrolled in Live Audio Engineering assume positions on the School of Music Sound Recording Services crew where they participate and gain experience in live sound production, reinforcement and recording.
Along with the completion of SRT specific classes, students will also receive training in topics essential to the foundation of musical learning (such as Music Theory, Music History, and private instrumental or vocal lessons) and the university-wide core curriculum requirements. This broad educational background, with a “hands-on” focus on sound recording, prepares our students to be professionals in the rapidly expanding and evolving industry where music and technology intersect.

English Language Scores: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score - 79 IBT (Internet-Based) and 550 PBT (Paper-Based); International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score - Overall band 6.5; Pearson Test of English (PTE) score – 53.
