在這里學(xué)什么?
This diverse department offers programs of study in anthropology, geography, gerontology, sociology and sustainable community development. Our curriculum is designed to produce graduates who can succeed academically and professionally through the abilities to reason, gather information, communicate, solve problems and adapt to dynamic environments.
Gerontology is the study of aging, including its psychological, physical, social and cultural aspects. Explore historical and cultural contexts of aging along with issues that confront modern society, like global aging, elder discrimination and assisted living communities.
Taking care of the oldest members of society is a moral imperative across cultures, and you’ll have the opportunity to gain expertise as you study this important issue. As a gerontology student, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge you’ll need to find a rewarding career in a fast-growing industry.
The sociology major with a gerontology emphasis introduces students to the fields of social gerontology, aging and intergenerational relationships and includes room for several gerontology-related elective courses. Students pursuing this degree will study aging and generation relations while immersed in field-based learning.
