The University of Nevada, Reno Department of Music provides education in the history, performance, theory, and pedagogy of music. Its mission is to help students acquire the skills and knowledge to enable them to successfully contribute as performers, scholars, and educators. At the same time, the Department stands committed to supporting the creative endeavors of its faculty, and to fostering a close relationship with the greater Northern Nevada community.
The Master of Music program in the College of Liberal Arts allows students to pursue their primary interests and gain an education in the following tracks:
Master of Music with a Specialization in:
- Instrumental Performance, or
- Vocal Performance, or
- Orchestral Career Studies, or
- Jazz & Improvisational Music, or
- Composition, or
- Choral Conducting, or
- Wind Conducting
Program Objectives/Student Learning Outcomes
- Students pursuing the Master of Arts-Musicology and Master of Music-Music Education degrees are expected to write and conduct research at a professional level.
- All Master’s students are expected to gain an in-depth understanding of music theory and music history.
- All Master of Music in Performance majors are expected to perform at a professional level

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution. Eligibility for admission with a 3-year bachelor's degree are determined on a case by case basis. Minimum grade point average (on a 4.0 scale): 2.75 for a master’s degree. TOEFL: 550 (paper) or 79 (internet), IELTS: 6.5 (academic version).
