The mission of the University of Nevada, Reno counseling program is to educate competent, culturally aware, ethical counselors who will provide exceptional services in both public and private settings to meet the needs of a increasingly diverse society.
The clinical mental health counseling emphasis is a 65 credit hour program that will be going under review for CACREP accreditation in 2020. The purpose of this extensive training is to prepare future clinicians for working with individuals in the community. Students in our program receive in-depth training in clinical issues, conceptualization skills, and treatment planning. The emphasis strives to provide the necessary self-awareness, knowledge, and skills to effectively deliver individualized treatment in the community.
The Clinical Mental Health Program will take approximately three years of full-time enrollment (including summers) to complete. If you would like to go slower, you will need to determine how you will work course progression, as you cannot take courses out of order.
