The dual program integrates the two areas of study and allows for 10 credit hours to count toward both degrees. MD/MPH students complete the training for the MPH degree usually between their third and fourth years of medical school.
Program areas include:
- Epidemiology
- Social and behavioral health
Students who select this program will be prepared for career tracks in prevention, research, and population-based community health. Physicians with this combined degree often work in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government, or international health agencies to address health policy and advocacy. Selected elective credits in the medical students fourth year will count jointly towards the two degrees. Many positions in public health, occupational, aerospace and environmental agencies and companies prefer this degree combination for physicians in many of their leadership positions. This degree combination also prepares practicing physicians to meet the social, behavioral and environmental issues that influence health and the health practices of their patients and communities.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Students shall acquire the body of knowledge and thinking processes necessary to become a competent physician.
- Students shall acquire the skills necessary to provide competent care for their patients.
- Students will become self-directed learners particularly within the patient care setting and will strive for ongoing professional improvement.
- Students must demonstrate effective communication skills necessary to function as a competent physician.
- Students shall demonstrate the behaviors befitting an ethical professional at all times.
- Students shall begin to develop an understanding of the setting in which they will practice medicine and the challenges of providing cost-effective care.

為來自中國的學生設計 Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution. Eligibility for admission with a 3-year bachelor's degree are determined on a case by case basis. Minimum grade point average (on a 4.0 scale): 2.75 for a master’s degree. TOEFL: 550 (paper) or 79 (internet), IELTS: 6.5 (academic version).
