Earth and Environmental Sciences are interdisciplinary, integrating principles of physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics, as well as quantitative and critical thinking skills, to address geological and environmental issues related to the solid earth, the oceans, and the atmosphere. To this end, the Department's programs and courses are designed to encompass a broad spectrum of basic scientific disciplines.
Coursework and research emphasize field and laboratory investigations of geologic and environmental problems. Our field orientation takes advantage of the university's proximity to the Sierra Nevada, the California Coast Ranges, coastal California, and the desert provinces. This unique location gives faculty and students access to an unparalleled outdoor laboratory, all within short trips from the university.
The department's close relationship with state agencies and the private sector enables many students to pursue internships or part-time employment in geologic and environmental work while they complete their degrees.

為來自中國的學生設計 Students with High school or secondary and higher secondary or equivalent. For admission consideration, a minimum 2.5 Fresno State converted and weighted GPA is required. English language Score: TOEFL – 61 iBT, or IELTS – 6.0 or with 5.5 Band score in each section, or ELS Language Centers - Level 112, or Pearson's Test of English – 45.
