School librarians create a vibrant culture of literacy by teaching critical skills young people need to evaluate and manage information while using innovative technology to share ideas. With a Master of Science in School Library and Information Science from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, you’ll become one of your school’s most dynamic educators who will not only build on the traditional role of nurturing a love for reading and developing high-quality collections to support the school curriculum, you will also be well equipped to support students and teachers in using innovative technologies to expand and enhance teaching and learning.
Become a Leader in the Information Age
UHCL's School Library and Information Science Program focuses solely on school librarianship. Faculty have a long history in school librarianship and consist of former district library supervisors and National Board Certified teachers. This program is designed for passionate people eager to support student learning by: Leading elementary, middle, or high school teachers in the integration of technology; Collaborating with teachers to develop lessons in all curricular areas; Helping students become information-literate; Teaching students about the ethical use of resources; and Implementing and promoting school-wide literacy programs, all of which impact student learning.
This degree will prepare you to: Analyze and identify the needs of diverse communities of users; Assist and educate users to resources; Develop and manage collections of information resources; Deploy information technologies in effective and innovative ways; and Effectively evaluate and use research.

為來自中國的學生設計 Applicants will be considered for admission to University of Houston-Clear Lake, if they have earned bachelor's degrees or higher (as applicable) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and are eligible to return to the last institution attended. To satisfy by Test Results: Official Pearson Test of English (PTE) scores of 53 or higher, Official International English Language System (IELTS) scores of 6.0 or higher, Successful completion of ELS Level 112 - Intensive English Program, or iBT TOEFL Test of 79 or higher.
