The Fashion Merchandising program equips students with skills to lead organizations in the fashion industry.
Fashion Merchandising Goals
- Students understand the roles of the merchandiser, designer and product developer
- Students employ concepts in retail management, buying and promotion
- Students evaluate design elements and trends from key eras of fashion history
- Students combine innovative thinking and technological competencies in Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the roles of the merchandiser, designer and product developer both locally and globally
- Identify and evaluate design elements and trends from key eras of fashion history
- Employ concepts of fashion merchandising, retail management, retail buying, special events and promotions, visual merchandising, and image/fashion consulting
- Examine concepts related to the cultural, social, and psychological aspects of textiles, dress and appearance
- Achieve economic prosperity while protecting the earth by implementing sustainability practices
- Combine innovative thinking and technological competence to develop, assess, and present information using various sources including the internet and social media
- Gain proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel
