The various options that are available to students are listed below.
Option 1(a) – 728 General Major in Mathematics
Basic major for employment in mathematical careers that do not require teacher certification. Appropriate for students majoring in complementary disciplines wanting a double-major in mathematics.
- Pre-Fall 2011: 34/35 Hour General Major
- Fall 2011 to Spring 2014: 39 Hour General Major
- Fall 2014 to present: 39 Hour General Major
Option 1(b) – 528 Extended Major in Mathematics
Recommended for students wanting to pursue a graduate degree in mathematics.
- Pre-Fall 2011: 48 Hour Extended Major
- Fall 2011 to Spring 2014: 51 Hour Extended Major
- Fall 2014 to present: 51 Hour Extended Major
Option 2 – 728 Teacher Certifiable (Secondary) Major in Mathematics
Basic major for teacher certification in mathematics at the high-school level.
- Pre-Fall 2011: Secondary Mathematics with SMED
- Fall 2011 to Spring 2014: Secondary Mathematics with SMED
- Fall 2014 to present: Secondary Mathematics with SMED
Option 3 – 730 Teacher Certifiable (Middle School) Major in Mathematics
Basic major for teacher certification in mathematics at the middle-school level.
- Pre-Fall 2016: Middle School Mathematics with SMED
- Fall 2016 to present: Middle School Mathematics with SMED
Option 4 – 731 Mathematical Economics
Extended major for students wanting a career in data-driven analytical economics (general track) or as an actuary (actuarial track).
- Pre-Fall 2013: Mathematical Economics
- Fall 2013 to present: Mathematical Economics – General Track
- Fall 2013 to present: Mathematical Economics – Actuarial Track
