The German Program in the Department of Modern Languages offers major and minor programs in German, Teacher Certification in German, and an MAT in Education with an emphasis on German. A regular rotation of courses are offered on the WKU Main Campus in Bowling Green. Many students of German also develop their proficiency by studying abroad. German can be combined with almost any other major to help increase your career opportunities.
Thirty-six (36) semester hours are required in this major (reference number 665). Some of the required course work may be accomplished through CLEP or AP credit. Study abroad is strongly recommended. A minor or second major is required.
Required core courses:
GERM 102 (or equivalent) (3 hours)
GERM 201, 202 (6 hours)
GERM 330 German Composition and Conversation (3 hours)
GERM 335 Contemporary Culture and Civilization (3 hours)
Total credit hours in required core courses: 15
Elective courses:
Seven (7) additional 300 or 400 level courses, OR six (6) additional 300 or 400 level courses and one 200 level course.
