The Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MS-EI) program is designed for individuals from varied backgrounds who are focused on creating new ventures, are part of family businesses, are interested in starting or growing their own businesses, or are pursuing successful careers in innovation-related roles within established organizations. This program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to create businesses in all sectors. Given the complementary strengths of both of the professional schools involved (The Peter J. Tobin College of Business and the Collins College of Professional Studies), this collaboration has produced a dynamic program with an experiential learning focus. Both Colleges offer pedagogical flexibility to meet the demands of the market as it evolves in the context of new technologies.
The MS-EI curriculum consists of four components that will enable a student to select:
- A three-course foundation in entrepreneurship and innovation (nine credits);
- A three-course concentration from the entrepreneurial and innovation offerings from the Collins College of Professional Studies (nine credits);
- A three-course concentration from the entrepreneurial and innovation offerings from the Peter J. Tobin College of Business (nine credits); and
- A capstone course that will bring together the knowledge and skills developed within the program and will integrate students learning (three credits).
Students will have many opportunities to work at their ideas using the incubator spaces located in the Tobin School of Business. In addition to providing dedicated space, the incubator will also organize a wide variety of events and activities, including the Business Plan and Pitch Competition and hosting different speakers, workshops, and programs. There will be multiple opportunities for students to meet, learn from, and network with leading industry professionals, including entrepreneurs and executives. Students will compete in the annual Business Plan and Pitch Competitions, will be encouraged to participate in the networking events and distinguished speaker series, work as interns in support of the startup companies through a development center, and get involved in the community outreach programs.
