The 48-credit program will provide the Master’s Degree candidates with dual certification in Literacy Birth through Grade 6 and Teaching Children with Disabilities- Childhood Special Education. It will give initially certified teachers the opportunity to enrich their classroom pedagogy with specialization in Literacy and Special Education. This dual Master’s program is designed to foster the development of skills, attitudes, and diagnostic abilities needed to improve literacy functioning and identify and remediate learning and behavior disorders.
Students will be endorsed for New York State Certification in both Literacy- Birth through Grade 6 and Teaching Children with Disabilities- Childhood Special Education upon completion of coursework, passing the comprehensive exams in each discipline, and pass the Content Specialty Tests in Literacy and Special Education.
This dual Master’s Program can enhance and diversify your employment options by making you eligible for:
- Literacy Specialist
- Diagnostician
- Clinician
- Resource Room Teacher
- Special Education Teacher
- Certification in Literacy and Special Education – Childhood
Please note that the full degree cannot be taken at the Long Island Graduate Center and at least one course must be taken at our Queens campus.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants must have an evidence of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including official transcripts from each institution attended. English Language Requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination. Successful candidates present a score of 500 on the paper-based test; 173 on the computerized test; 61 on the internet based test; or 5.0 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
