The University of Maine School of Law and the MaineMBA offer a joint degree program combining the Juris Doctor and the Master of Business Administration degrees. The joint M.B.A. and J.D. degree program gives students the unique skills to serve as leaders in complex legal and business environments. This accelerated program explores the relationship between legal and business enterprises, and bridges advanced knowledge in financial, accounting, managerial, and economic practices with legal applications.
MaineMBA / JD Curriculum
The complete MaineMBA curriculum consists of 30 credits. Joint students in the MaineMBA and J.D. program must complete seven (7) MBA Core Courses (21 credits):
- Statistical Analysis and Modeling for Organizational Operations (BUA 601)
- Creating & Capturing Value in the Digital Economy (BUA 605)
- Financial Statement Analysis (BUA 609)
- Management of Contemporary Organizations (BUA 626)
- Managerial Marketing (BUA 645)
- Management Policy (BUA 649)
- Financial Management (BUA 651)
Three (3) University of Maine School of Law courses (9 credits) will fulfill MaineMBA requirements:
- Business Associations (LAW601)
- Advanced Business Associations (LAW668)
- LAW Elective
Three (3) MaineMBA courses will be fulfill University of Maine School of Law requirements.
The complete University of Maine School of Law J.D. curriculum consists of 90 credits. After the student has completed their first year of Law coursework, nine (9) credits of MBA coursework with a grade of B or better will be shared between the two degrees. Any MaineMBA course EXCEPT Managerial Marketing may be chosen for transfer.
Professional Recommendations
Professional recommendations may be shared between The University of Maine School of Law and the MaineMBA. Your recommender may use the same letter for both programs, however, they must submit the letter separately with each application.
