The secondary education program builds on strong partnerships the College of Education and Human Development has created with school districts locally, statewide and internationally. This gives students the chance to combine academic work in a university environment with field-based work in a wide range of settings. Our students are prepared to teach and work in diverse educational situations. The curriculum allows an in-depth exploration of such topics as multiculturalism in the classroom, adolescent psychology and adapted instruction for students with disabilities. Students who are interested in teaching a particular subject, such as science, social studies or history, are able to tailor their coursework to their career goals. Areas of specialization include English, life/physical sciences, social studies, math, and world languages. A diverse range of student-teaching and internship opportunities ensures that our graduates are prepared to teach in a variety of classroom settings.
The college’s educator preparation programs emphasize a diverse liberal arts background and highly relevant professional training. The undergraduate teacher education programs are fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE/CAEP) and approved by the State of Maine. Students graduate from our programs and enter the teaching profession with experience, an authentic view of schools, and an understanding that teaching, learning, and professional development are lifetime endeavors.

為來自中國的學生設計 Clear, legible photocopy of graduation certificate or diploma issued by the Ministerio de Educación and Academic transcripts indicating all subjects taken and grades obtained. Students must have completed secondary/high school or university work. English language requirement: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – minimum score of 79 (iBT) or 550 (paper-based test); IELTS (International English Language Testing System) – minimum score of 6.5; PTE (Pearson Test of English) – minimum score of 53.
