Department faculty cover a wide range of fields in philosophy, including the history of philosophy (ancient, modern, and Twentieth Century Continental), Eastern philosophy and religion, ethics (including biomedical, environmental, education, and business ethics), philosophy of law, social and political philosophy (including Marxism and feminist philosophy), logic, aesthetics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science (natural and social), philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of religion. Faculty members have authored many journal articles and books, including one which received a “best first book” award. Research and teaching interests of most faculties are interdisciplinary, drawing upon anthropology, economics, literary studies, law, sociology, linguistics, and other fields.
Example of a Four-Year Program for a Major in Philosophy
First Year:
Two 100-level philosophy courses
Second Year:
PHI 103 Methods of Reasoning or PHI 250 Logic
PHI 210 History of Ancient Philosophy (offered every fall)
PHI 312 History of Modern Philosophy (offered every spring)
Third Year:
One upper-level philosophy courses, possibly including PHI 230 Ethics, or PHI 240 Social & Political Philosophy, or PHI 344 Theories of Justice, and PHI 475 Junior/Senior Seminar (offered every spring)

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Clear, legible photocopy of graduation certificate or diploma issued by the Ministerio de Educación and Academic transcripts indicating all subjects taken and grades obtained. Students must have completed secondary/high school or university work. English language requirement: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – minimum score of 79 (iBT) or 550 (paper-based test); IELTS (International English Language Testing System) – minimum score of 6.5; PTE (Pearson Test of English) – minimum score of 53.
