The Master of Arts in Teaching - Secondary English Concentration is a 41 credit-hour program that leads to initial teaching certification in high school English and grades 6-12. The program is intended for students with a BA or BS in English, or an English related field, who wish to earn teacher certification with the State of Michigan.
Degree Requirements: 41 hours
English Content Courses: 6 hours
Students are required to take the following course twice (6 hrs), in different semesters and must be on different topics

CURR 505 - Curriculum and Methods for Teaching in the Secondary School 3 hrs EDPS 501 - Psychology of Adolescence 3 hrs EDPS 627 - Designing Classroom Assessments 3 hrs EDUC 592 - Teaching Internship 6 hrs LTEC 602 - Technology and Student-Centered Learning 3 hrs PRCT 588 - Practicum in Secondary Classrooms 2 hrs RDNG 657 - Comprehension and the Content Areas 3 hrs SFCE 655 - Education for Justice: Toward a Diverse, Democratic and Sustainable Society 3 hrs SPGN 510 - Introduction to Inclusive Education and Disability Studies 3 hrs
