A Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education - Chemistry provides students with an opportunity to begin an exciting and rewarding career in science teaching (Grades 6-12).
Learn
Graduates of this program, proficient in chemistry content knowledge, educational theories, and effective teaching practices, are adept at disseminating knowledge to young students in both laboratory and lecture settings.
Opportunities
While pursuing their degree, students will observe and participate in teaching activities at multiple schools, and student teaching. Students will also have opportunities to engage young people through community outreach. Upon graduation and endorsement, the secondary education program in chemistry enables students to teach chemistry in a variety of educational settings, including public and private middle schools and high schools. In addition to educational settings, graduates have also found work in science museums, state agencies, or in public service.
