The Bachelor of Science in Media Studies and Journalism is a blend of practical and theoretical studies for the media practitioner. It combines the pertinent courses of both media studies and Journalism in a single, concentrated program of study. This BS degree teaches the skills and practices necessary for content production and distribution through a variety of platforms.
Learn
Students will learn how to create effective media messages; the skills needed for insightful and meaningful reporting; the historical and social significance of both media and journalism systems as well as using online platforms for distribution of their content. The student will learn how to work as a thoughtful observer of their world as well as become proficient with the technical tools to disseminate their stories and messages.
Opportunities
The Media Studies and Journalism major has many opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, e.g., the Eastern Echo student paper, Eagle Radio and E-TV production labs, a required internship, and study abroad.
