A student selecting the Elementary Education Language Arts Comprehensive Major will earn a Bachelor of Science and be certified to teach children from Kindergarten-Fifth grade. They are also eligible to earn the State of Michigan BX endorsement. This indicates that the student has specialized expertise in Language Arts and qualifies the student to teach Language Arts in grades 6-8.

Learn

Students will study multi-cultural and adolescent children’s literature, myths and folktales, linguistics, drama and play, and writing. They will also learn to plan and execute child-centered learning experiences for children in grades K-5.

Opportunities

Certified teachers with the BX endorsement can teach in Kindergarten-fifth grade classrooms and Language Arts classrooms in grades 6-8.
