A student selecting the Elementary Education Early Childhood Comprehensive will earn a Bachelor of Science and be certified to teach children from Kindergarten-Fifth grade and also earn the State of Michigan Z.S. endorsement. This indicates one has specialized expertise and experience with children from birth – third grade including special needs preschool children.
Learn
Students will learn how to plan, execute and assess developmentally appropriate learning experiences for all children including children from birth-age five with special needs. Students will complete four in school practicum experiences including two in the EMU Children’s Institute serving children from 2 &1/2-5 years of age.
Opportunities
Certified teachers with the Z.S. endorsement are able to teach in Kindergarten – fifth-grade classrooms and programs requiring the Z.S. endorsement including Inclusive early childhood programs, Great Start Readiness Programs, Head Start and other school district and private preschool programs.
