ABOUT THE COURSE
Liverpool Hope University is one of the country's leading providers of Initial Teacher Education. The PGDE in Further Education is a Masters level qualification which is aimed at high quality graduates wishing to pursue a teaching career in further education colleges, work-based learning, adult education, SEND colleges, community education, offender education and the charitable sector.
It is an intensive, demanding, yet very rewarding programme running from early September. Students will be on teaching placements at local educational settings as an integral part of the programme. You will gain experience of teaching and learning alongside other education professionals with support from university-based tutors and institution-based mentors. Tutors are dedicated to individual student support and work closely with partners in educational providers to develop excellent educational practitioners.
CAREERS
Once you have completed this degree, you will be qualified to become a teacher in a further or post-compulsory education setting. This provides vastly diverse opportunities for employment. The most common employment settings are FE colleges and Sixth Form colleges, but there is also demand and opportunity in SEND colleges, Alternative Provision establishments, adult education centres, prisons/youth offender institutions, museums, art galleries and hospitals, as well as many smaller institutions that may be funded by public finance, charities or private companies.
All of this leads to the PGDE in FE course at Liverpool Hope University producing highly skilled, top quality, innovative teachers, who are fully equipped for the diverse range of further and post-compulsory education settings.
