Why choose this course?
The MMus in Music is aimed at graduates from Music or Popular Music courses and those already active - or starting to become active - in the professional realm.
This Masters’ level course offers a dual emphasis on Music Performance and Music Performance Studies, aiming to develop your knowledge and critical awareness of current trends and opportunities in the professional practice of music and musical performance. Areas of focus may include:
- music performance
- composition and songwriting
- analysis and musicology
- musical leadership, direction and conducting
The MMus in Music has a strong focus on practical performance-based work as well as equipping you with the analytical and writing skills that are relevant to the Music Industry and pedagogy.
You will be encouraged and be able to focus on issues of technique in the performance and interpretation of music from both practical and theoretical perspectives, enabling you to analyse and reflect on your preferred approach and cultural ‘take’. The application and development of your interests and skills will ultimately determine the precise nature of your degree and its usefulness to you as a practising musician, teacher, researcher, etc.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計 Students who have completed a 4 year Bachelor degree from a NARIC or government recognised institution and can provide both a bachelor degree certificate and graduation certificate are eligible for entrance onto Master’s degrees: A score of 75% is considered comparable to a UK 2:1; A score of 65% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2; A score of less than 65% is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-masters course. English language requirements vary by course and department but the standard University requirement is 6.0 with 5.5 in every component in IELTS or the same scores in the University’s own entry test, the Wolverhampton English Proficiency Examination (WEPE).
