Our courses are distinctive in that they approach educational leadership from a humanistic perspective. They are designed to identify and build on your strengths as a leader and give you an understanding of the relational and contextual nature of leadership. Our energetic and passionate staff will prepare you to apply the skills and knowledge you gain in the classroom to the real world.
The Flinders University educational leadership and management program is especially suitable for current and future human resource managers, knowledge managers, school principals and departmental officers, policy developers, vocational education sector managers, and leaders of university academic and administration units. Our students come from all organisational sectors, with diverse qualifications and share a common focus on building capacity within their organisations.
What you will study
The program provides you with an introduction to knowledge and skills in your area of interest, with a focus on understanding and changing practice. The masters aims to assist you to eventually build organisations in sustainable ways through the development of people, understanding of stakeholders and strategic alignment of resources. Topics cover areas such as strategic thinking and planning, leaders and leadership, theories of organisational change, managing human resources, knowledge management for organisational learning, planning change in organisations, and financial management.
Program of study
To qualify for the Master of Education (Leadership and Management), a student must complete 72 units, including approved credit, with a grade of P or NGP or better.
Your career
Graduates are suitable for careers in a variety of positions ranging from work as teachers in school classrooms, school coordinators and principals, curriculum and policy advisers in departments of education, and as advisors to government departments and other policy makers.
