Combine a psychology major with a second major in a range of disciplines concerned with human behaviour and development. With excellent facilities including up to 20 research laboratories, and unique placement opportunities, you will graduate for work in a variety of settings or continue on with further study.
What you will study
First year
A typical first year may include:
- core topics in psychology and research methods
- introductory topics towards your second major
- a selection of elective topics.
Second year
A typical second year may include:
- core topics in research methods, personality and social psychology, cognition and learning, human development, and psychological assessment and measurement
- intermediate topics towards your second major
- a selection of elective topics.
Third year
A typical third year may include:
- core topics in research methods and applications of psychological science
- a selection of psychology topics including introduction to clinical psychology; advanced social psychology; applied cognitive psychology; lifespan development in cultural perspective; mind, brain and behaviour; and forensic psychology – legal and clinical
- advanced topics towards your second major.
Your career
The degree prepares you for a wide range of careers including youth work, advertising, marketing, policy and research, consumer research, industrial relations, human resources, program coordination and welfare. To register as a practising psychologist in Australia, you must complete an honours program in psychology and either two further years of supervised experience, or an approved qualification such as a Master of Psychology (Clinical).
