Immerse yourself in the ideas that shape the world we live in.
Investigate and analyse ideas, communicate your findings and build your knowledge base in a variety of areas with a BA. In many instances you will also gain first-hand experience of how to apply what you learn through practical topics, placements and internship opportunities.
International relations
International relations studies a world divided among different countries. Its elements include diplomacy, foreign policy, military affairs, human rights, international political economy and trade, international organisations like the United Nations, and global issues such as inequality, weapons proliferation, terrorism and environmental cooperation. International relations seek to understand the role of 'middle powers' (like Australia) in a world that also includes a 'super power' (like the United States) and 'small powers' (many poorer states). It asks key questions about war and peace, about how to maintain a ‘rules-based global order,’ and about who gets to participate in global decision-making for our shared future on this planet.
