專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么?
This programme is awarded by University of London (UOL), UK and developed by the member institution, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
LSE is one of the foremost social science universities in the world. Since its foundation in 1895, it has acquired a worldwide reputation for the quality of its research – 50% of its research was rated world-leading and a further 37% internationally excellent in the most recent assessment of research quality in UK universities.
This programme builds on some core economic theories and key concepts of modern political thought. Emphasis is on microeconomics, macroeconomics, understanding the present state of democracy, political analysis and public choice.
Strong foundation in economics, politics
The world is flat and we’re all backyard neighbours, whether we’re in Beijing or Brooklyn or Bedok. When economic growth was climbing in China, property prices in Singapore went up. When the US presidential election is around the corner, criticisms on China surge. When Britain left the European Union, decision efficiency in the EU improved in leaps and bounds.
This programme builds on core economic theories and important concepts of modern political thought. It develops your intellectual capacity to understand the world in political and economic terms. Emphasis is on microeconomics, macroeconomics, understanding the state of democracy, and the democratic process. You will learn the rigorous process of conducting economic analysis at micro, macro and international level. In addition, you will be exposed to the debates in comparative politics and their social-economic impacts.
Learning outcome
- Assess research practices and compare theoretical positions affecting both Economics and Politics
- Apply theoretical perspectives to real-life situations and challenges
- Understand the relationship between the political economy and public choice (the use of analytical tools of economics in the study of politics).
