The Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management provides students with an academic foundation and field experiences in preparation for the recreation, park and tourism professions. The program comprises three concentrations:
The Park Management concentration focuses on providing opportunities for outdoor recreation and protecting the natural, cultural and historic resources on which those opportunities depend.
The Recreation Management concentration focuses on recreation and leisure services in public, commercial, campus, community and outdoor settings.
The Tourism Management concentration focuses on services and entrepreneurship in tourism industries and sustainable destination development.
Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Demonstrate entry-level knowledge of the nature and scope of the profession.
- Demonstrate entry-level knowledge of the foundation of the profession in history, science and philosophy.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
- Demonstrate the ability to design, implement, and evaluate recreation services for targeted human experiences.
- Demonstrate the ability to design, implement and evaluate recreation services that embrace personal and cultural dimensions of diversity.
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to successfully collaborate with others in varied work environments.
- Demonstrate entry-level knowledge of operations and strategic management and administration in parks, recreation and tourism.
- Demonstrate entry-level knowledge of the techniques and processes used by professionals in the parks, recreation and tourism industries.
- Demonstrate the potential to succeed as professionals at supervisory or higher levels in park, recreation, tourism or related organizations.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply evidence-based decision making, including determining information/data needs, locating and evaluating existing data sources, data gathering techniques, analysis and interpretation.

中國(guó)學(xué)生入學(xué)要求
為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) New freshmen applicants must finish secondary school in their home country by the time of enrollment to be eligible for university (comparable to the completion of senior high school in the U.S.). Freshmen should meet the minimum requirement of GPA 2.5 on a U.S. 4.0 scale. Applicants must obtain a minimum score of TOEFL Paper Based Test is 525 (71 on the Internet based version), the minimum score of MELAB is 75 or IELTS minimum score of 6.0 and the minimum score of PTE academic is 48.
