Prepare for a career in composing for the screen while developing your skills in music production, music editing, orchestrating, mixing, and engineering. In this master’s program, you will receive intensive professional training that combines practice, theory, and industry immersion with opportunities to work closely with renowned composers, music editors, orchestrators, publishers, and other industry professionals.
What You'll Learn:
Your curriculum includes core courses in research, music theory, and music history and literature; composition seminars; classes in film music; our Composers Forum; and private composition studies. Electives are available in computer music, conducting, music technology and production, songwriting, music theory and cognition, music business, and game audio. You’ll master the use of industry-standard software, sample libraries, synthesizers, and audio processors.

In addition to providing a well-rounded and professional education, NYU Steinhardt's Screen Scoring program presents a broad variety of workshops, conferences, and professional opportunities for composers and scholars.
