The Media, Culture, and Communication/Global Public Health (MCC/GPH) combined major bridges the sociological, political, and cultural study of media with public health to develop strategies for improving the conditions of global populations. Identifying solutions to challenges of this scale requires an expert understanding of societal engagement with emerging technologies and transcultural information flows.
The highly selective, demanding NYU undergraduate majors in Global Public Health allow students to choose a course of study that is a combination of public health and an academic discipline. As a future health practitioner, you will study a variety of topics such as epidemiology, media culture, politics, health policy, technology, and ethics.
How You’ll Learn
Course work is combined with experiential learning and global exposure to ensure that you are broadly trained and uniquely prepared for a variety of careers. A semester at an NYU global site is a requirement for all Global Public Health combined majors. While you are not required to take a public health course during your semester away, many core courses are offered at these NYU global sites: Accra, Ghana; Buenos Aires, Argentina; London, U.K.; Sydney, Australia.
