The Global Public Health/Nutrition and Dietetics combined undergraduate major prepares you to apply current knowledge, policy, and research about food and nutrition toward the improvement of the health of populations locally and around the world.
Your Academic Experience
This major focuses on the role of food, nutrition, and health in society. As a student pursuing this degree, you will study a variety of topics such as food production, technology, epidemiology, diet assessment, health policy, and nutrition counseling, in addition to a foundational core of liberal arts courses in writing and social science. Working closely with an advisor, you’ll round out your course of study with a mix of electives that compliment your individual interests and desired career path.
The combined Global Public Health/Nutrition and Dietetics degree also includes an internship component, where you will have the opportunity to apply course concepts to real-world scenarios and build professional relationships in the field.
As a graduate of the Global Public Health/Nutrition and Dietetics degree, you will be well-prepared for entry-level positions in health care, community programs, health departments, school food service, private practice, publishing, public relations, or other businesses that involve nutrition and public health.
You can also use your education as a step to becoming a public health professional focused on developing policies and programs that:
- Prevent disease
- Promote health in neighborhoods, schools, communities, and in government
- Examine how to deliver services
- Improve environments
- Equip people with information to protect their own health
