在這里學(xué)什么？ Infectious diseases account for a third of all deaths. It’s a hard stat to take in, but it’s why we keep studying the microscopic organisms that cause them. In this degree, you’ll learn how infectious diseases are caused, prevented, managed and cured – in both research and clinical environments.Do you want to know more about infectious diseases, which are responsible for a third of all deaths and are a major cause of death in infants and young children? This Medical Microbiology BSc will give you a thorough understanding of the range, type, structure and physiology of infectious organisms that cause disease in humans; including the major microbial diseases.You will appreciate how such organisms infect the human body, promoting both health and disease, and how such infections are prevented, managed or cured. This course will allow you to study within a department that contains both research and clinical scientists involved in patient management. You will be taught by both, and introduced to the clinical environment. At the University of Leicester, you can apply for this degree in Medical Microbiology or any of the three degrees listed below. All courses are also available as four-year MBiolSci degreesWhichever degree you choose, your first year will be the same, allowing you to transfer to a different degree stream. The modules taken in your second and final years will ensure you graduate in your chosen degree. The other available specialisms are: Medical Biochemistry Medical Genetics Medical PhysiologyOur four Medical Sciences degrees allow selection of specialist modules that focus more closely on the application of biological principles to medicine. Our seven Biological Sciences degree programmes cover major aspects of biology and molecular sciences across a wide range of organisms from bacteria and fungi to humans and plants.There is the possibility of transferring across from our Medical Sciences degrees to our Biological Sciences degrees within the first semester of Year 1.
