在這里學(xué)什么？ Unpicking the biochemical processes that make all living things (and viruses) tick is the first step to understanding the mechanisms that define life. Welcome to the fascinating and diverse world of biochemistry. On the MBiolSci, you will hone your research and laboratory skills and extend your medically specialised BSc programme into a fourth year of masters level study.The basic principle of biochemistry is that the processes of living things can be explained by the properties and interactions of the molecules from which they are made. On this course you will work alongside leading biochemists who are investigating some of the most important questions in biochemistry research in order to gain insight into the mechanisms of life.Biochemists study these processes in all types of organisms and discover how errors in them can cause disease, and they help discover how biomolecules work across the biological sciences. On this course you will gain a broad understanding of fundamental biological processes, while developing analytical skills and gaining experience in handling complex information. By studying biochemistry alongside options in other biological sciences, you will be able to apply your knowledge across the boundaries of traditional disciplines and gain a valuable and powerful asset in scientific environments and in many other walks of life.This flexible and broad-based four-year degree allows you to shape your course to focus your study on the biochemistry of living organisms. The first three years are the same as the BSc in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry), including the option of a year spent abroad or working in industry. In your final year you will specialise further, upgrading your degree to an MBiolSci (Master of Biological Sciences) and experiencing a seamless transition to specialised higher level study with a focus on biochemical research and transferable employability skills.All of our Biological Sciences degrees include the option to change your programme, particularly in Year 1 and Year 2, subject to completion of the necessary modules.The other available specialisms are:Biological Sciences (Genetics)Biological Sciences (Microbiology)Biological Sciences (Neuroscience)Biological Sciences (Physiology with Pharmacology)Biological Sciences (Zoology)Or a general degree in Biological Sciences.Our seven Biological Sciences degrees cover major aspects of biology and molecular across a wide range of organisms from bacteria and fungi to humans and plants. Our four Medical Sciences degrees focus more closely on the application of those biological principles to medicine.There is the possibility of transferring across from our Biological Sciences degrees to our Medical Sciences.
