Collaboration is at the heart of the wind & percussion, which features exceptional dedication and a personal approach from the acclaimed faculty. A fully-integrated environment allows students to thrive and participate in numerous ensembles across a variety of genres, and engage in vast interdisciplinary opportunities at SMTD and across U-M.
Designed for students who want the flexibility to pursue more coursework within the liberal arts in addition to an education in music. This is an interdisciplinary degree with a larger commitment to liberal arts.
Curriculum
The Bachelor of Musical Arts in Performance: Winds & Percussion requires a minimum of 120 credits: coursework is approximately 50% within SMTD and 50% within the liberal arts. The liberal arts coursework can be tailored to a student’s specific interests.
Students will elect either a performance or multidisciplinary track. SMTD coursework to include:
PERFORMANCE TRACK
Private lessons Music Theory Musicology Ensemble participation: at least two terms of band, orchestra, or choir; two additional terms of any ensemble Piano
MULTIDISCIPLINARY TRACK
Private lessons Music Theory Musicology Ensemble participation: four terms of at least two different ensembles Piano Performing Arts Technology

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Other English Language Requirements: MELAB (plus speaking): 85 range with section scores 80+ and 3+ in speaking; TOEFL (PBT): 600 range with section scores 57+; ECPE: Certificate with all sections at least a C; CAE or CPE: 185 with no less than 180+ in all sections (CEFR C1);PTE Academic: 68 with all sections equally strong.
