Collaboration is at the heart of the wind & percussion, which features exceptional dedication and a personal approach from the acclaimed faculty. A fully-integrated environment allows students to thrive and participate in numerous ensembles across a variety of genres, and engage in vast interdisciplinary opportunities at SMTD and across U-M.
Designed for students who wish to prepare for a professional performance and teaching career on their major instrument and related instruments (i.e. woodwind specialist, brass specialist). Emphasis is placed on performance in both the major and related instruments but with varying electives. Those who wish to teach in elementary or secondary schools should pursue a curriculum within the Department of Music Education. Applicants must show outstanding ability and well-prepared repertoire; piano study is recommended.
Curriculum
The Bachelor of Music in Multiple Wind Instruments requires a minimum of 131 credits: coursework is 75% within SMTD and 25% within the liberal arts. SMTD coursework to include:

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Other English Language Requirements: MELAB (plus speaking): 85 range with section scores 80+ and 3+ in speaking; TOEFL (PBT): 600 range with section scores 57+; ECPE: Certificate with all sections at least a C; CAE or CPE: 185 with no less than 180+ in all sections (CEFR C1);PTE Academic: 68 with all sections equally strong.
