The Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degree offered through the School of Integrative Plant Science is a one-year, course-based master's degree, ideal for individuals who are interested in in-depth study of the issues and advancements in plant and soil sciences. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for the importance of plants in securing a sustainable future for the world’s population, competency in undergraduate science coursework, and interest in applying knowledge gained in a professional career.
Requirements for the Master of Professional Studies (Agriculture and Life Sciences) degree are thirty credits of mostly advanced course work related to the student's professional interests; a problem-solving project; two semesters in full-time status and a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
While students have the opportunity to customize their own course of study with their faculty advisor, the Field of Horticulture offers several areas of specialization for MPS degree candidates. Each of these areas include a suggested curriculum of core and elective courses that fulfill the requirements of the MPS in Agriculture and Life Sciences degree while placing particular emphasis in an area of specialization. Specialization areas include: Controlled Environment Agriculture, Viticulture, and Public Garden Leadership.
