When you study hospitality at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration (SHA), you get a full-bodied approach to business and you find out it's about so much more than hotels. Marketing, finance, real estate, operations, and more we cover it all, pairing our exceptional focus within the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business with the breadth of global perspective afforded by the greater Cornell community. SHA will provide you an AACSB-accredited business degree with a focus on the world's largest and most exciting industry, offering a sense of adventure and a wide range of rewarding careers.
Our bachelor's degree program is distinguished by a firm foundation of business knowledge; a focus on the global, diverse, and thriving hospitality industry; and the flexibility to direct your education towards your personal interests and career goals. Combining class work with practical experience in the field, you will be uniquely prepared for success in business and beyond.
Degree Requirements
Your degree consists of core courses that compose your major, SHA electives supporting your interest in a specific area of the hospitality industry, over 4,000 general electives offered at any of the six other Cornell colleges, and your practice-credit requirement through hands-on work experience.
Core Curriculum
From the start, you are immersed in your major, exploring all aspects of the hospitality industry. As part of the only Ivy League program in hospitality management, SHA core courses address all of the aspects of running a business-strategizing and planning, design and construction, financing and marketing, and management and operations.

- Services Marketing and Operations Management (SMOM)
- Hospitality Leadership Concentration (HOLD)
- Finance, Accounting, and Real Estate Concentration (FARE)
Practice Credit
Through 800 hours of work in the hospitality industry, you apply classroom theory to real-world practice, gaining invaluable experience while building your resume. The objective of the practice-credit requirement is to ensure that your education has the essential balance between theory and practice.
