在這里學(xué)什么？
The M.A. in English requires 30-36 credit hours and is designed for those planning to pursue a doctorate; to teach in community colleges, technical institutes, or some undergraduate colleges; and to work in non-academic settings. Three plans of study beyond the core requirements are offered:
- Thesis Plan
- Teaching Composition Plan
- Plan of Study for Careers in the Humanities
Thesis Plan: 30 hours of course work, a committee of three faculty members, a thesis (one long paper or two shorter papers), and a foreign language requirement. This plan is usually selected by students who want to continue on with a PHD and/or teach.
Teaching Composition Plan: 36 hours of course work (no committee, no thesis, no foreign language requirement). This plan is for those who may want to go on to a PHD but also for those who opt to teach at a community college. We have a long-standing relationship with GTCC and some students toward the end of their MA degree may apply for an internship through their FIT (Faculty-in-Training) Program.
Minor Field Plan: 36 hours of course work (no committee, no thesis, no foreign language requirement). This plan offers cross-disciplinary opportunities in such subjects as Women’s and Gender Studies, School of Education and the Arts.

為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) All applicants must have obtained the following: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or appropriately-evaluated credentials for non-U.S. schools; satisfactory academic standing as an undergraduate or in a post-baccalaureate program. Non-native speakers of English must validate proficiency in the English language by one of three means: TOEFL: 79 (paper-based 550); IELTS: 6.5 Band Score; PTE: 67; and ELS: 112.
