This concentration is designed primarily for the student with an undergraduate degree in music education or performance who wishes to pursue advanced training in choral, orchestral or wind-band conducting. Students may also elect related studies in music performance or other allied areas.
Choral Emphasis
This concentration is designed primarily for the student with an undergraduate degree in music education or performance who wishes to pursue advanced training in Conducting: Choral Emphasis plus related studies in music performance and allied areas. A student must successfully pass an audition that demonstrates an advanced level of conducting skill to qualify for admission to the program. Students may also have to pass other audition(s) in performance area(s), depending on their focus.
Applicant proposing concentration in Music Performance Conducting: Choral Emphasis must demonstrate outstanding performance and conducting skills. An on-site audition is required; in extreme cases, recorded examples of an applicant’s performance may be accepted in lieu of an in-person audition. Applicant should contact faculty in the appropriate performance area to inquire about specific audition repertoire and procedures.
Instrumental
This concentration is designed primarily for the student with an undergraduate degree in music education or performance who wishes to pursue advanced training in Conducting: Instrumental plus related studies in music performance and allied areas. A student must successfully pass an audition that demonstrates an advanced level of conducting skill to qualify for admission to the program. Students may also have to pass other audition(s) in performance area(s), depending on their focus.
Applicant proposing concentration in Music Performance Conducting: Instrumental must demonstrate outstanding performance and conducting skills. 為來自中國的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) Applicants for admission to the UWM Graduate School must have the following: A baccalaureate degree or its equivalent as determined by the UWM Centre on International Education, from a regionally accredited institution, completed before the first term of enrolment in the Graduate School. Students applying to approved integrated bachelor’s/master’s programs are exempt from this requirement, A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, or an equivalent measure on a grading system that does not use a 4.0 scale. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) results with a minimum required score of 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) and a minimum recommended sub-score of 18 in each skill). IELTS (International English Language Testing System) results with a minimum required score of 6.5, with minimum recommended sub-score of 6.0 in each skill.
