The WARE program is an interdisciplinary MS "slash" program. Students who enlist in the program are pursuing graduate studies in hydrology or water resources from a range of departments at the University of Wyoming. It is a dual degree program that encourages students to pursue interdisciplinary academic options while completing their MS research.

- Botany/Water Resources
- Civil Engineering/Water Resources
- Entomology/Water Resources
- Geography/Water Resources
- Geology/Water Resource & Geophysics/Water Resources
- Rangeland Ecology And Watershed Management / Water Resources
- Soil Science/Water Resources
- Zoology And Physiology/Water Resources
The academic program of study undertaken by the candidate must be designed to enhance the students background and expertise through formal graduate level course work in the areas of: (1) technical hydrology, (2) natural resources economics and/or law, and (3) water quality and a seminar. To ensure a minimum multidisciplinary character, the course program must contain:
- Nine hours of course work with at least three hours from each of the aforementioned areas;
- At least six of those credit hours must be from outside the student's sponsoring department;
- A one-credit hour seminar on water resources organized through the Department of Renewable Resources;
- Only Plan A masters degree programs, which require the writing of a thesis in the water resources area, are acceptable for the water resources degree option.

A cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on previous coursework is required for full admission (3.25 for interdisciplinary program applicants). Proof of English Proficiency: A minimum score of 540 on the written exam, or 76 on the Internet-based test; IELTS: A minimum score of 6.0 is required for admission.
