We require all Anthropology majors to take a series of core classes beginning with the introductory sequence, which includes introductory courses in all four fields of anthropology (ANTH 1100, 1200, 1300, 2000). Majors also must complete at least one upper division course in each of the four subfields as listed below. Five additional requirements include four core courses and three semesters of a single foreign language:
(1) Introduction to Anthropology Research Methods (ANTH 3310) (2) Ethnographic Methods (ANTH 3300). (3) Because statistical methods are an essential tool in anthropological research, we require that anthropology majors complete a course in statistics (STAT 2050 or 2070). (4) Anthropology majors must take an additional two laboratory science courses. (5) To complete your major, you will need to take ANTH 4010, History of Anthropological Thought in your senior year. (6) Three semesters of a single foreign language must also be completed.
The Anthropology Department offers a large suite of additional electives that undergrads can choose to take if they desire to further than anthropological education.
