Course summary
- Learn how to set up and run your own design-based commercial or social enterprise.
- Develop your entrepreneurial mindset and capabilities.
- Create a solid business proposal based on customer research and finance assessments.
- Develop useful business networks with support from a dedicated mentor and the academic team.
If you want to succeed as a design entrepreneur, you need the critical, analytical and managerial skills to make independent decisions. On this course, you’ll learn how to be a self-reliant businessperson - starting your own enterprise with support from expert staff, and getting ready for the next steps in your career.
How you learn
Initially, the course is based around entrepreneurial capabilities. This helps you recognise your creative potential and resourcefulness, and translate ideas into actions.
You’ll also study business concepts such as accessing finance, creating a marketing plan and undertaking customer research.
Finally, you undertake an applied research project focusing on your own design-orientated business idea, alongside a Sheffield Hallam coach and a mentor from an external organisation.
